Western Australian table grape business Fruitico is looking forward to the official restart of the seasonal worker program here in WA. Fruitico grows grapes in the Peel region, just south of Perth and also has a new venture north of Broome. It's managed to secure a total of 80 workers from Vanuatu, the first of which are expected to arrive in WA, to begin their quarantine period, on the 22nd of December and then ready to start work on the 7th of January. The quarantine period will cost Fruitico about $2, 500 per worker, but it's that or see 50 per cent of the crop, or millions of dollars, left to rot on the ground.
