Episode 10: Road to Rojava - Interview with Janet Biehl

Janet Biehl is the author of many books and articles, a copy editor, and a graphic artist living in Burlington, Vermont, in the United States. In the late 1980s she became involved with the Left Green Network in Vermont, and for more than two decades, she advocated the theory and politics of social ecology. Janet has been tirelessly working to support the Kurdish freedom movement throughout the 2010s. She is more recently the main character of a documentary film called "Road to Rojava." She is also right now working on a graphic novel about her time in Rojava and northeast Syria. In this podcast, we will talk about both the film and the book and in general her work in Kurdistan and how she became introduced to the Kurds and the Kurdish movement. Visit this link for more information about the film: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/road-to-rojava#/ [The ending track of this episode is Xeftano by Ergin Xelîkan] Call for Submission: The Kurdish Edition podcast would like to invite academics, intellectuals and artists whose works are related to the Kurdish society, culture, and politics in all four parts of Kurdistan and in Diaspora to submit proposals for an episode or a series of episodes for the podcast. Your submission should be no more than 700 words, or maximum two pages, in Microsoft Words or PDF format. Your proposed episode(s) can be hosted by yourself, co-hosted with another person, and/or have an interviewee. It should clearly describe the topic of your proposal, your schedule for producing it, and your co-producer/co-host or interviewee if there is one. In terms of the time limit of each episode, it could ideally be between 25 to 40 minutes but no longer than one hour. After sending your submission, there will be a review process for each proposal. Your proposed story must be well-researched, original, and speaking to both academic and non-academic listeners. In the next step, we will talk about the technical aspects of producing a podcast as many of you potential editors live in different corners of the world with different technical skills and equipment. You can send your proposal directly to myself at sardarsaadi (at) gmail.com
