Dice of Doom Podcast 046: Thoughts on D&D 5th Edition and wrap up of Temple of Elemental Evil

EWe present to you, most patient listener, a lost episode of the Dice of Doom Podcast recorded sometime last year. The bits and bytes of the recording languished in a forgotten folder on a computer where it matured and gained new and fragrant characteristics. Once it had reached the pinnacle of its potential, it was edited and cut down, spliced together then thrown to the public to listen to as they please. Topics covered are our impressions of D&D 5th edition and where D&D stands going into the future. We also have a heated discussion about the various editions and fail to agree on anything. To make matters worse, we then wrap up our experience with the original AD&D 1st Edition Temple of Elemental Evil campaign...

Dice of Doom Podcast 045: Rules that enhance Roleplaying Games and Crafting “Who ‘dun it?” Mysteries

EIn this carrot dangling episode we discuss rules mechanics and how they can be used to enhance roleplaying games. In particular we discuss how this is done in Rolemaster, Deadlands and Spirit of the Century. We also answer some listener questions, namely our thoughts on DnDNext, Palladium, and how to craft a classic "Who Dun It?" mystery in your games. All this, and a collection of stupid character names to boot!

Dice of Doom Podcast 043: Rogue Trader Review, Pandemic and Splitting the Party

EIn this episode of the Dice of Doom Podcast we discuss our first impressions of the roleplaying game Rogue Trader set in the dystopian future of Warhammer 40k universe. Having to spend time waiting for people to turn up to games night has meant that we have started playing a lot of board games, so we review Pandemic. We also have a long rambling discussion loosely based around our our thoughts on Splitting the Party, its evils and James Bond.

Dice of Doom Podcast 042: What should be in the Roleplaying Classic Collection?

EFor this episode we have only asked ourselves one question. And then we talk non-stop for around 45 minutes on it. No really. We just found it that interesting. The question you ask? If you were Professor of Roleplaying Games at some awesome university that had an RPG Dept, what would be the core reading texts? What would make up the Roleplaying Game Canon, so to speak.

Dice of Doom Podcast 041: The role of Source Books in your Campaign, Interview with Sam from Tw33t_RPG, Mouse Guard first impressions and introducing kids to RPGs

EIn this fibre packed episode of the DoDCast (good for you in so many ways) we talk to Paul about his recent foray into teaching his kids about roleplaying games. We also discuss the role of sourcebooks in your campaign - just how rigidly should you adhere to them in your game. Sam from Tw33t_RPG joins us for an interview on his upcoming tweet roleplaying game. And, as a bonus, we include our first impressions of the Mouse Guard RPG, just because we're nice like that.

Dice of Doom Podcast 040: Mutants & Masterminds, Shadowrun and Resetting a GM

EIn this podcast we review Mutants & Masterminds and, due to a delay in recording the second half of the podcast, Shadowrun 20th Anniversary edition as well. We look at ways to reset a GM who thinks that you are always playing the same type of characters regardless of their stats or personality (thanks CrookRook!). We also do a mini-review of the D&D Boardgame Wrath of Ashardalon.

Dice of Doom Podcast 039: Goblins!, Fabled Lands, Mutants & Masterminds, and Using Skill Checks on PCs

EIn this, admittedly belated, episode of the Dice of Doom podcast we discuss how you (yes you!) can be part of the play testing experience for our new RPG Goblins! We discuss the games that we will be playing this year (Fabled Lands, Mutants & Masterminds, Shadowrun, Mouse Guard, Ars Magica, The One Ring, Traveller, Deadlands). We also review Fabled Lands. For our discussion topic this episode we are asked the question by Michael S on our Facebook page "Should you be able to use your skills, like Diplomacy and Intimidate on other players?" We have to apologise to Michael S as we forgot to give him a shout out in the podcast.
