About Us

I’m a writer and I’ve always wanted to tell stories, but I also love hanging out with friends and sharing stories. So I figured why not create a space where I can do both? Here at The Intersection, I hang out with a few friends and chat about life and culture, through the lens of our faith and lived experiences. By sharing these ideas and stories, we hope to create spaces that embrace differences, inspire, and create change.

The Mashup: Checking Receipts at The Intersection

It’s been a minute I know, but like we’ve all watched the news right? The Corona Virus has rocked many of our lives, so I hope you are washing your hands, staying inside, drinking your water, and hopefully, you have checked on all your people. That’s what I’ve been up to, hence why this took a week and a half to get out. I did want to share this episode and let y’all know, this may be the last episode for a bit. I don’t know how long a bit is, to be honest. We all are just playing it by ear at this point, but I love y’all this has been a great fourth season, and I will be back as soon as I can with more amazing guests, do not fret. In the meantime, I did want to give you one parting episode and guess what, it’s all about great music and two great shows that you can watch during this time of social distancing. Also, it’s with one of my favorite people and podcast host, Christina Utley. Christina runs a podcast called Recaps and Receipts (Apple & Spotify) all about the first episodes of tv shows you should be watching, so go check that out. Today’s featured shows and albums are: Hoax by Kevin Garrett (Apple & Spotify) Black Cat Neighborhood by Fallulah (Apple & Spotify) On My Block (a new season just dropped on Netflix so you’re welcome!) Please Like Me Let us know if you love these shows or albums too and what you are watching listening to during this small bit of isolation. I can’t wait to bring you more episodes in season 5, hopefully, no pandemics will be going on during that time. Stay indoors, safe, and healthy yall, Peace!

The Photograph and Our Legacy

This week we’re back with a little review of The Photograph, but also how photographs and tangible memories tell stories that shape a legacy. My guest this week is, at this point a regular, Brittany Bellinger. We really go in-depth about our own attachments to tangible memories and storytelling, so this is one you don’t want to miss. If you haven’t seen the movie and you don’t want spoilers you should skip from about minute 20 to minute 50. If you want to follow Brittany, and you should you can find her on Instagram and Twitter or you can follow her book tube on Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. You may or may not some a familiar face on there, who knows hehe. Enjoy!

The Speed of Success

This week I’m hanging with my guy Ish aka Ish, Ya Cousin, the Brooklyn rapper. I loved this conversation because Ish is one of the most brilliant people We talk about balance, what it means to seek success in life, how he feels as an artist in the current landscape of hip-hop, and how he thinks of Stevie Wonder and Lil’ Wayne as virtual mentors. Also in this episode, we chat a bit about Pop Smoke. It’s crazy to think since this recording he is gone. Rest easy Pop Smoke. Get into it and if you want to check him out on Apple or Spotify or see him live, hit up on Instagram and Twitter.

Valentine's Day Minisode

Happy Valentine’s Day! This week I thought why not share a little of what’s been on my heart and also give y’all something short to go with a full playlist (Apple & Spotify) of my favorite love songs because honestly I miss making music content. So here is little ol’ me reminding you love comes in all the forms and should always start with you loving you because you’re amazing! Enjoy the day and celebrate with those you love.

The Dating Game

Happy February! We are back with something for the month of love, a highly requested episode on…DATING! My guest today is a friend of the show Josh Dickens (Twitter & Instagram) is back! We had a nice long conversation (starts around 19 minutes) and he lets us know how he feels about the current dating scene. To me, it’s a little bleak, but I’m hopeful, to him, he’s ready. We also both were doing the Unleashed 2020 21 day fast with our church that I mentioned last week with Clarence, and we give a little update on that. Listen, enjoy, and share. Let us know what you think, how do you feel about the state of the dating scene in 2020? Also, how are you spending your Valentine’s Day? Give us some ideas!

New Year, New Folks, and Queen & Slim

Happy New Year! Welcome to Season 4 of The Intersection! We made it through 2019 and we are starting off swinging. I’m so excited I have three of my friends, Christa, Kayla, and Josh on the podcast talking about Queen & Slim. There are spoilers from about 34 minutes so beware, if you haven't seen it by now I don’t know what to tell you except, don’t listen past that point! There is even an alternate ending idea in this episode. All of our views are opinions so we may not all agree but Queen & Slim is definitely a conversation starter, so we hope you enjoy it.
