90210 Creator Darren Star Remembers Luke Perry, ‘an Avatar of Cool’
The pilot of Beverly Hills, 90210 had been shot, but the series was missing a secret ingredient: an avatar of cool. It seemed like an impossible role to fill--until Luke Perry walked in the door. He was unforgettable from the moment I met him, in the summer of 1990. [video id=6009895087001] Luke was taking time off from his day job when he came in to read for the role. One day he was paving parking lots, and the next day he was Dylan McKay.

Remembering Luke Perry
If you came of age in the 1990s, you might know Luke Perry as the rebellious teenage fantasy boyfriend Dylan McKay on Beverly Hills, 90210. But you also might know him from the original movie version of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Or as Archie's dad on Riverdale. Perry was only 52 when he died on Monday. We take a moment to celebrate Perry's contributions to pop culture.
R.I.P. Luke Perry
Today is a sad day indeed with the passing of Luke Perry. From 90210 to Buffy The Vampire Slayer and then Riverdale Luke was a true professional with a James Dean type of cool.... This podcast is sponsored by Anchor
Luke Perry, Gone Too Soon
Luke Perry has left us way too soon. Many people who worked with Perry, who died of a massive stroke at the age of 52, are heartbroken and grief-stricken. Riverdale has shut down so that the cast and crew can mourn Perry, who played Archie’s father Fred Andrews. I'm even broken up about it, and I met Perry once, for maybe 3 minutes, over 20 years ago. It turns out that it's way to easy for the good to die young, and while you should always appreciate your life and your friends and loved ones, read this if you're wondering why strokes are even more dangerous for young men like Perry than for the elderly, here's the very sad explanation: https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/people/2019/03/04/luke-perry-death-stroke-middle-age-adult-centers-disease-control/3057585002/ In happier news, the world premiere of Captain Marvel is tonight (even though there was already a world premiere in the UK, but everything on that side of the pond is a bit confusing at the moment - not that we in the US have any claim of normalcy). While they were overseas, Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson appeared on the Jonathan Ross Show. Ross, a lifelong comics fan, enjoyed Larson and Jackson's take on the song "Shallow" from A Star is Born. You can watch that here: https://youtu.be/3BucpXwaZHg And for the spoiler-ific concept art from Captain Marvel, that suggests a huge secret that could change everything about the Marvel Cinematic Universe's past and future, check this out: https://www.cbr.com/captain-marvel-concept-art-fury-skrull/ Thanks for checking out tonight's episode - make sure to subscribe to the show, and to leave ratings and reviews!
