156: Where is your money and what is it doing for the world?
In this week’s show we talk about the enormous power we have in the way we invest our money: Ethical investing for the world we want to see! (This episode is not sponsored nor am I personally endorsing this exact investment fund as the one you should transfer to! It’s simply a discussion about ethical investing, highlighting the great work one company is doing as an example) From today, what I hope this show will do is have us all ask ourselves: What does ethical investment look like for you on the micro-level in terms of what’s going in your shopping basket and where is your money invested right now when it comes to finance, superannuation, your 401K etc? And then finally to look and ask: is there a disconnect? Adam Verwey is the founder of Future Super and an experienced ethical fund manager and Kirsten Hunt is the COO, passionate about advancing women’s rights and financial opportunity. Together we all discuss the power in where we put our money and it’s a wonderful discussion that will leave you with great tools to start asking powerful questions of the institutions where you have your money right now as well as researching the best aligned options when it comes to your values. Enjoy the show and as always, you’ll find all the resources and the show supporter offer over at lowtoxlife.com/podcast Alexx x

Melanie Gleeson // The glow getter who founded Endota Spa
I know it's a little late this week, so please excuse my travel brain - I released the wrong episode then didn't have this one ready but it's here and you'll probably get another very shortly. I pinch myself during most Seize the Yay chats, but this one in particular felt like a beautiful full circle I never thought was possible. I've been a customer of Endota Spa for so many years now (since as far back as uni) but especially during my legal career when it was my absolute saviour and could never have dreamed I'd be sitting down with founder Melanie Gleeson at Endota HQ for a gasbag. Self-care didn't come as naturally to me back then but an hour at Endota Spa would bring me back to life and my monthly Endota visit has endured to this day. It's such a beautiful haven that started on the Mornington Peninsula when Melanie was just 26 and has now grown to a multimillion dollar network with over 100 locations and 1000 staff. It was a such a pleasure to hear about Mel's way to yay from an...
Taryn Brumfitt // Un-hate your body and Embrace your dreams
Today's guest is one of the people I admire most in this world who is the fiercely passionate thought leader behind The Body Image Movement and whose first film, the documentary Embrace, has reached over 100 million people with her message about learning to love your body. Taryn Brumfitt broke the internet in 2013 with an unconventional before and after photo where the after shot was heavier and HAPPIER than the leaner before shot taken during a body building competition when she was more restrictive, less balanced and less happy. After going viral all over the world and receiving over 7000 messages from women struggling with body confidence, she wrote a book and crowdfunded an incredible documentary, Embrace, that is set to become Australia's highest grossing documentary ever. She is now in the process of raising money for the second film, Embrace Kids, and I couldn't be more excited for the positive impact and contribution it will make to a comparative, competitive and sometimes o...

Self-Awareness, Growth and Pivoting with Intention with Valeria Lipovetsky
episode 91 The Pinnacle often talk about “Shooting Star Ideas,” the kind of thoughts that enter your mind out of nowhere but make so much sense that you have to act on them (or should at least.) Inviting Valeria on to MANIFEST THIS was one of those ideas. I’ve loved her content for a while now and find her both entertaining and inspiring but while listening to her on The Ikonns podcast a few weeks before this episode is airing, I had the thought of “email her now, you need to have a conversation” and it ended up being so much more than I thought it would be. In This Episode We Discuss… how Valeria processed the one of the biggest pivots she made at age 16 how she learned to empower herself rather than rely on other people how Valeria found her purpose and how she manifests what “future Valeria”wants right now working through limiting beliefs Valeria’s experience with a tarot reading and the internal changes she’s going through Valeria's approaching Saturn Return Show Notes...

277: Tanya Hennessy
Tanya Hennessy is a comedian, author, broadcaster and YouTube superstar. She’s currently on the radio every weekend right around the country, on the internet being very, very funny - and about to be on Bachelor in Paradise UNPACKED where she and her colleagues watch every episode of The Bachelor in Paradise and react to it - like a mini version of Goggle Box. It’s extraordinarily funny. That’s mainly because she is extraordinarily funny too. Tanya has an incredible story to tell, and as a woman in Australian broadcasting has some excellent lessons about success when you’re up against it. A note here at the top of the show. Tanya wrote quite extensively in her book “Am I Doing This Right?” about body image. She wrote a whole chapter on it. During this conversation she brings it up, and we begin to talk about it. I called her the other day to double and triple check to make sure that what we talked about was ok to go up on the podcast, and she assured me that it was. I am no str...

How Connecting to a Higher Power Can Give You Purpose
Today is a bit of a heavy topic: the idea of believing in God or something bigger than us in life. Religion has been a huge part of humanity for as long as we can remember. We always try to explain the life around us — especially 10,000 years ago when we didn’t understand anything like the sun or the rain.

Christina Dean - Fighting Fashion Waste
‘Single-use’ was named the Word of the Year for 2018 by the Collins Dictionary. Now that we know the oceans are choking with plastics, disposable has become a dirty word. We also know, there is no away. Nothing that uses synthetic materials is ‘disposable’ – it has to go somewhere. Out of site, out of mind is a total copout. But what about so-called "disposable fashion"? Single-use fashion is perhaps a stretch – but we’re not a million miles away. Clothing usability is declining. In the US clothes are worn for around a quarter of the global average. The same pattern is emerging in China, where clothing utilisation has decreased by 70% over the last 15 years ago. Do you know how much fashion we throw away? Clothing production about doubled during that time; we now produce around 100 billion garments a...

Our guest this week, on the final Episode of Series 2, is Londoner Tamara Cincik, founder of the British policy organisation Fashion Roundtable, who is derminted to change this. Her timing's pretty good. In the UK in June, the Environmental Audit Committe (a select committee of the House of Commons) announced it would be looking in to fast fashion, inquiring into the carbon, resource use and water footprint of clothing throughout its lifecycle, and looking at how clothes can be recycled, and waste and pollution reduced. Over the next few months, loads of industry insiders made submissions, and the mainstream headlines hummed with fashion and politics. It’s about time, says Tamara, that fash...
