"Sometimes we can't find the right answers because we aren't focused on the right questions."How the hell can we ever find what it is we're looking for if we're always looking in the wrong place? For such a simple question, knowing exactly when we're looking in the wrong place isn't so simple at all. Well let's be honest here, sometimes it's blatant… chances are prince charming isn't hanging out downtown getting wasted. But we do this exact thing! We continue to find ourselves surrounded by the same people, "falling into" the same situations, and garbage relationship after garbage relationship. We take all this time and effort focusing on ourselves and doing and giving our best, to only be confronted with the same scenarios. Maybe, we were never the problem that needed fixing. Maybe we've been focusing on the wrong questions and in the wrong places.Did you ever see the movie Patch Adams with Robin Williams? In the movie there's an old man named Arthur, living in a mental hospital alongside Robin Williams' character Patch Adams. Arthur is constantly approaching those around him, holding up four fingers, and asking people how fingers they see. Their reply: "Four", to which Arthur shakes his head "no" to, whilst dubbing them an idiot. Later in the film, Patch Adams approaches Arthur and asks him what the answer is. Arthur takes Patch's hand, holds it up, and forces him to hold up his four fingers. Arthur asks again, "How many fingers do you see?" Patch's reply… "Four." You guessed it, he was wrong again. "No no no! Look at me. You're focusing on the problem! If you focus on the problem you can't see the solution. Never focus on the problem, look at me. How many do you see?" replies Arthur. Looking past his fingers to Arthur's face, the fingers blur and double. Patches answer this time…? Eight. Arthur lights up, "Yes! Yes! Eight is a good answer! See what no one else sees. See what everyone else chooses not to see, out of fear, conformity, or laziness. See the whole world anew each day!" This is just a tidbit of the magnificence that is this movie… if you haven't seen it… you're wrong… haha. If you have seen it… watch it again… But you can see how this relates to our issues of focusing on the wrong subjects. How then do we get to a place where we are asking the right questions and are focusing on the right solutions? The answer is easy. What do you want? That's it. All we have to do in order to ask the right questions, to then produce the most beneficial answers… is simply define what it is we want. And seriously, how many of us even have that figured out!? Perhaps this is the first question we should be asking ourselves. Better yet, perhaps we should take Arthur's advice and not even focus on the problem. Maybe we should stop asking questions and simply just do what ever it is we most enjoy.Today is the day. We're also on:- Itunes: itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/forge…d1055559739?mt=2 - TuneIn Radio: tunein.com/radio/Forge-Your-Potential-p823622/ - Soundcloud: @forge-your-potential - Stitcher: www.stitcher.com/s?fid=77011&refid=asaGet more daily motivation by keeping up with us on social media!- YouTube: www.youtube.com/channel/UCPsws0LQB9ObK8M2LHD4s_A - Facebook: www.facebook.com/forgeyourpotential - Instagram: www.instagram.com/forgeyourpotential - Twitter: twitter.com/official_fypMusic: Bensound.com
