The Body Leads the Way

In the last episode Kim and Tia talked about giving ourselves permission to slow down and rest. In this episode they continue the conversation and talk about how important it is to listen to our bodies. Our bodies will tell us when to rest, when to move, what to eat and how much to eat etc.. if we just listen. The problem is that often we don’t listen to the body and we do everything from our minds and in particular from our old outdated belief systems and from the masks that we wear. This causes us to become run down, overwhelmed, stressed and burned out. Kim and Tia give some tools that work for them when faced with these situations. Take a listen to hear more. “Real rest feels like every cell is thanking you for taking care of you. It’s calm, not full of checklists and chores. Permission Slips

During these busy and hectic times do you feel a constant flow of overwhelm? Are you constantly under the gun? Do you put your oxygen mask on before assisting others? Do you feel burned out all the time? How often do you feel completely ok with just taking some time (even if it is just a little while) to just unplug and unwind? We often feel so guilty when we are doing “nothing,” yet athletes know that having a recovery day is crucial to their performance. However, most of us just can’t give ourselves permission slips to just check out and rest. “Give Yourself Permission to Unplug and Regroup, without Feeling Guilty. Stay In Your Lane

To sign up for the FREE Balancing Your Backpack course go to https://unlocking-authenticity.teachable.com/p/balancing-your-backpack It is so typical for humans to feel and think that there is not enough to go around for everyone whether that be jobs, money, shelter, raises, opportunities or whatever. We are so conditioned and wired from caveman times that it is all about “survival of the fittest.” So, as a culture we still compete and compare rather than cultivating a mindset that there is an abundance in the Universe. When we are in a place of scarcity and lack we can really impede our personal growth. A sure way of knowing if we are in scarcity is when we compare ourselves to others and we are not feeling good enough or worthy enough. When we are able to gradually move into the mindset that there is enough for everyone and also to look at life from an abundant mindset. What that means is that we learn to look at everything in life as an opportunity to grow. When we can look at even the most difficult situations in life as an opportunity to learn. That is an abundant mindset and from this place we can feel lighter and freer because we are learning to flow with life. “People in a scarcity mindset tend to see everything in terms of win/lose. There is only so much; and if someone else has it, that means there will be less for me.” ~ Stephen Covey To Contact Us: Masks Off Email: podcastmasksoff@gmail.com Masks Off YouTube Channel: https://youtube.com/channel/UCaWJfO7ZFd4aYBX3e-clj9Q Tia Fagan Website:tiafagan.com Facebook:@tiafagancoach Instagram:@tiafagancoach Email: tiafagancoach@gmail.com Kim Gross Website:unlock-yourmind.com Facebook: @unlockyourmindhypnotherapy Email:kimgross@unlock-yourmind.com Episode 40

Big Announcement!!

To sign up for the FREE Balancing Your Backpack course go to https://unlocking-authenticity.teachable.com/p/balancing-your-backpack In addition to announcing Balancing Your Backpack, Kim and Tia talk about values and being in alignment with your values. As the quote indicates, are you true to yourself? Do you have the courage to stay in alignment with your values or do the masks you wear keep you from doing the things in life that are really important to you? What gets in the way of staying true to yourself besides the masks that we wear? Oftentimes it is our inner dialogue and our belief systems. Some may not feel that they are worthy of staying in alignment with their core values and some may be so consumed with doing and achieving and living on the “hamster wheel of life” that they are not even aware of what their values are let alone stay in alignment with them. The price that we pay when we are not true to ourselves is that we feel disconnected from our authentic selves. Once we make choices that are in alignment with our core values, we feel more empowerment and more authentic. If you are interested in the book that Kim mentioned in the episode it is “Mindset” by Carolyn Dweck. “There are some values that you should never compromise on to stay true to yourself; you should be brave to stand up for what you truly believe in even if you stand alone.”― Roy T. Balancing Act

Are you striving to have perfect balance in your life? Or, do you have no balance at all? Are you completely out of alignment and therefore, out of balance? It is difficult for over achievers, people pleasers, martys or caretakers because they are doing too much of one thing. There is little balance in their lives. It is the “shoulds” in our lives that continue to push us and we do more than be. We can easily be human doings and not human beings. It can also show up where some are not motivated and can become depressed. There are so many areas in our lives that we try to find balance. While we are not looking for perfect balance we are aiming to come back to balance when we become aware that we have lost balance. Balancing Act

The Thought Train

How often have you found yourself caught in a mental tailspin because of a situation that you thought was overwhelming? Have you ever noticed yourself spiral out of control because you lacked control in a particular situation? Did you notice a heavy feeling as a result of your reaction to whatever that particular situation was? Kim and Tia discuss the importance of staying in the moment or at least returning to the moment when you feel yourself going into control mode or anxiety land. It is also key to learn the art of going inward and becoming aware of what your thoughts and feelings are all about. Is there a limiting belief or an old pattern that is showing up and allowing you to stay on the thought train of anxiety? Once we recognize that our thoughts are just thoughts and we do not have to attach to these thoughts. As we begin to realize how thoughts affect our behaviors and can have a negative impact on others, we can begin to allow those thoughts to just pass without reacting to them. “Ships don’t sink because of the water around them; ships sink because of the water that gets in them.
