It is Tuesday, so that means it must be Filibuster day! Adam, Jason, and Ben are all back in your ears to talk about D.C. United and the upcoming expansion draft. We go through some of the key players on D.C. United's roster and give our opinions on whether or not the team should use a protected slot on them. We then welcome Alicia Rodriguez of The Goat Parade to the show to talk about the Chivas USA dispersal draft. We talk about a number of players that D.C. United could possibly get in the draft, such as Marky Delgado, Thomas McNamara, Andrew Jean-Baptiste, Oswaldo Minda, Danny Toia, and Marvin Chavez. We even talk about Dan Kennedy, even though there is no chance he comes to D.C. United. Finally, we go around MLS and look at the upcoming playoff games this weekend, even though Ben can only predict series results and not individual games. Give it a listen!

Pine for the weather of Monday

It is Tuesday and so that means that Filibuster is back once again, to hopefully help your Thanksgiving commutes. We start by talking about the MLS Playoffs and that means talking about New England Revolution vs. New York Red Bulls. We talk about the refereeing, offside calls, Bradley Wright-Phillips' yellow card, and whether or not this Revs would have a chance against either team from the West. Speaking of the West, we then move to talk about LA Galaxy vs. Seattle Sounders. We talk about whether or not we would want Marcelo Sarvas for D.C. United, the gameplay between the first and second matches, and Kevin Stott's comments. Finally, we open the Twitterbox and talk about Thomas McNamara, briefly mention that there will be lots of stadium news today, go through the Cake or death posts so far on the site (and turn them into goat or fox), talk about fullbacks, and end with our Thanksgiving food and beverage pairing for hatewatching the rest of the playoffs. Give it a listen!

We are delayed by a day, but don't worry, Filibuster is back. We start off by talking about the MLS Cup Playoffs and with the New England Revolution vs. New York Red Bulls. We talk about whether or not this series matched our expecations, Tim Cahill replacing Bradley Wright-Phillips, and the tactics of the two teams. We then move into Seattle Sounders vs. LA Galaxy, and wonder how the Sounders lost that series and take a look at the performances overall. We close by talking about MLS Cup and who we think (and hope) will win. We then talk about the D.C. United stadium plan and the DC Council for a long time, including using such words as "supplemental budget" and "first reading." We try to walk you through what actually happened yesterday and what it means for the team. We then talk about the MLS Best XI, which features two D.C. United players in Bill Hamid and Bobby Boswell, as well as talking about MLS Coach of the Year Ben Olse. Finally, we end the show with some Goat or Fox on Ja...

If you want to get really obscure

Monday was the single busiest day in MLS this season, and the Filibuster team is here to help walk you through everything that happened. We talk about the international roster spots that D.C. United traded to both Orlando City SC and NYCFC in exchange for GarberBucks. the trade with the Houston Dynamo for Andrew Driver and a draft pick in exchange for Joe Willis and Samuel Inkoom, the contract options that were declined, Jeff Parke specifically, and the names that are on D.C. United's protected list. We then talk about actual soccer on the field, going back to MLS Cup between the LA Galaxy and New England Revolution. We break down the game by going through the three goals, and talk about Robbie Keane's performance overall. We go around MLS in this offseason so far, and talk about the defenders Orlando City has acquired, which expansion team we think is doing a better job so far, and what is going on with Sporting Kansas City. We end the episode going through the expansion draft prot...

We're going to show those Serial people how it's done

Adam is out with some sort of goat flu, and some Ben and Jason welcome Ryan back to the podcast and then things quickly spiral out of control. We first talk about the D.C. United stadium deal, which is on the agenda for Wednesday's City Council meeting. If it passes, it would be the most important thing to happen in D.C. United's history, so we talk about it for a bit. When then move into a D.C. United news roundup, talking about Fabian Espindola's red card, United's options for while he is out, and the Concacaf Champions League overall. Then, over Jason's protests, we talk a little bit about the bad game that was the College Cup and Virginia's victory. We then move into the MLS Expansion Draft and talk about the two players that D.C. United lost: LEWIS NEAL and Tommy McNamara. We talk about what we get for them, who we could have lost, how this compared to what we thought was going to happen, and other notable players taken by Orlando City SC and New York City FC. We also break in ...

This is what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps

Filibuster is back for your holiday travel listening needs! It is an all stadium episode, because we just had to dedicate an entire show to the biggest news in D.C. United's history. We talk about the vote itself, whether or not we expected it to be unanimous, and when we are all going to run out to Buzzard Point with our tools and bricks to just start building. We also talk about the road that lead D.C. United here, including Poplar Point and Prince George's County, and how this ended being probably the best possible location that United could have ever gotten (and therefore worth the wait). We talk about two key figures in the history of the stadium deal, Muriel Bowser and Kevin Payne, before moving onto the building itself and what we want to see in a new stadium. Finally, we talk about Brian Straus' article about the history of the stadium deal, and talk about whether or not we want to see United update their brand as they enter their new home. This is probably our last episode ...

It was just really hot gin

After a week off for the holidays, the Filibuster crew is rested and ready to take on 2015! We start by walking our way through the Hate Index, which measures the teams that are least hated and most hated by D.C. United fans. You won't believe the two teams that top the list! (Yes, you will) We then answer some of your twitterbox questions about Luis Silva and his national team prospects and whether or not United should give Bill Hamid a designated player contract. Give it a listen!

Allsvensken!

It is MLS SuperDraft week, and that means that it is time for our yearly chat with Top Drawer Soccer's Travis Clark, the expert on all things college soccer. We talk about Cyle Larin, Cristian Roldan, and the other top players in the draft, the depth (or lack thereof) of talent in this draft, and the various goalkeepers in the draft (and where D.C. United should take them). We then ask Travis about picking for need versus picking the best available player, the Generation Adidas class this year, prospects from around greater DMV area, the effect of USL PRO, and whether or not there are any D.C. United Academy players who might sign soon. After we bid farewell to Travis, we turn our attention to D.C. United news. We talk about SB Nation's mock SuperDraft, the signing of Markus Halsti, how Halsti will fit in with Perry Kitchen and Davy Arnaud, the callup of Steve Birnbaum and Perry Kitchen to the USMNT, the Concacaf Champions League, and United's coaching changes. It is a jam-packed sh...

Tony Montana, but with old bay

The SuperDraft is over, and your SuperFilibuster crew are here to tell you all about it. Adam is on assignment on a frozen tundra somewhere, so Jason and Ben are joined by Ryan and Leanne about all things D.C. United. We start off by talking about D.C. United's two picks in the MLS SuperDraft, starting with first round pick Miguel Aguilar. We talk about the fact that he uses an international roster spot, what we expect from him, and whether or not we thing he will make the team given the current uncertainty around roster sizes due to the CBA. We then move on to talk about second-round pick Dan Metzger, the fact that he already has an MLS contract, his homegrown player status with NYRB, and whether there is room on the team for both him and Jared Jeffrey. We then move on to talk about D.C. United's trade with Orlando City SC for forward Jairo Arrieta. What talk about his abrasiveness. what we expect from him this season, and where he fits in with this team. We then talk D.C. United j...

Adam is back from his scouting trip to Alaska, and Filibuster is back in your ears. We start off by talking all things D.C. United preseason trialists: Andrew Driver and David Estrada, Rocket Rod Dyachenko, the center backs (Futty Danso, Rauwshawn McKenzie, and Sean St Ledger), and the goalkeeping trialists that are Diego Restrepo, Richard McCallum, and Riccardo Anedda. We then talk about injuries suffered this season (Eddie Johnson and Michael Seaton) and at the end of last season (Luis Silva, Chris Rolfe, Andrew Dykstra, and Conor Doyle). It could be an interesting forward pairing to start the year if these players don't start getting health (but most of them are doing so). When then talk about Perry Kitchen, Steve Birnbaum, and the USMNT's Camp Cupcake. They play Chile tonight, and they may do so in a strange formation. Is Jurgen Klinsmann actually just Tom Soehn? Finally, we introduce a new segment entitled "Metro Offseason Failure" before taking some of your Twitterbox question...
