Matt Cowdrey, OAM - Paralympic Swimmer & Politician

My guest this week is the honourable Matt Cowdrey, OAM. Matt Cowdrey is an Australian Paralympic swimming champion and politician. Despite being born with a congenital amputation which means his left arm ends just below his elbow, nothing has ever held this impressive person back. Matt credits his parents for his 'can-do' attitude admitting that they never helped him do anything that he couldn't do for himself. By the time Matt was 11, he was a champion swimmer, breaking records throughout Australia and by age 15, he was representing Australia at his first Paralympic games in Athens (2004). Not only did Matt compete but he came home with 7 medals including 3 gold. Still today, Matt is considered the most successful Paralympic athlete in Australian history. 11 years, 3 Paralympics, 3 commonwealth games and many world championships later, Matt decided to retire and take up a new career in Politics. After an inspiring internship in the US, Matt got heavily involved in his local Liberal...

Jane Reilly - Iconic TV & Radio Weather Presenter

My guest this week is the extraordinary Jane Reilly. There's not many people who could boast about staying at the top of their game in their profession for some 40 plus years, especially in the media industry but that's what makes Jane Reilly special. Jane graced our TV screens for a whopping thirty-seven years as weather presenter before transitioning into radio. Jane was the first weather reporter in South Australia to get out of the studio and into the community and when she did, not only did Jane's career bloom but so did South Aussie's love for her. Suddenly, Jane wasn't just preparing us for the week ahead with her weather reports but she was sharing the untold stories of our community members and making the little people feel important. I truly think that's what makes Jane Reilly so loved and so well respected in South Australia. I just loved this candid chat with the impeccable Jane Reilly and I hope you do too. Cameron Johns - Airline Captain, Jetstar Australia

I may be a little biased in saying that today's guest is my favourite but that is because he is in fact my husband. Since inception of this podcast, whenever I've asked for feedback on who I should interview next, for some reason, Cameron Johns has been the person requested the most. Cam really is an impressive person and someone I am not only honoured to know but beyond proud to know be married to. Just last week at the age of twenty-nine Cameron became the youngest Captain at Jetstar Australia. With more than 800 pilots in his cohort, this is an impressive feat and not one that he has achieved through luck but through hard work and dedication. I've seen firsthand over the last nine years how determine Camo has been to achieve this huge milestone but the journey started well before I met him. But I'll let him tell you that story. I hope you enjoy this chat with my husband, Cameron Johns as much as I did. Heaps Good Adelaide is a good news platform about South Aussies who love what ...

Theo Doropoulos - Sports reporter & ex-professional cricket player

ETheo Doropolos is an ex- professional cricket player who you may now recognise as a sports reporter on Channel seven. During his professional career he played for Western Australia, Victoria and South Australia where he played in one-day, four-day and T20 competition as well as the one fateful day where he represented Australia in a Test against West Indies (he shares this great story!). Theo generously opened up and shared stories with me about the sacrifices he made to be a better cricket player, how he worked hard to become a sports reporter as well as sharing some of the toughest days of both his personal and professional career. Heaps Good Adelaide is a good news platform about South Aussies who love what they do and where they live. Tiarne Cook - Business Owner & Creative

At just 20 years old, Tiarne Cook and her sister Hayley opened Royal Copenhagen Dessert Bar and Icecreamery in Brighton (5048). During their seven year ownership, they grew the business to be one of the most successful Copenhagen stores in Australia based on turnover. Not only did Tiarne run a successful business but she also studied at University and eventually worked full time as an Assistant Producer in breakfast radio - somehow juggling it all. I loved chatting to Tiarne about what is actually involved in starting your own business - from finances, to contracts, to hiring staff and beyond - and how her and her sister made the difficult decision to eventually sell their booming business. Will Doak - Head Chef, Orso

At just 22, Will Doak was promoted to Head Chef of Press* food & wine, making him the youngest Head Chef in South Australia. While Will was on cloud nine having reached an impressive milestone at such a young age, not everyone was happy for him. How did he handle this? What did this mean for his long term career? Tessa spent a Sunday afternoon with Will in his Warradale home where they discussed how Will knew he wanted to become a Chef, what is actually involved in being a Head Chef and what the future holds for his career. If you looking for inspiration from someone full of determination, ambition and incredible leadership skills far beyond his years, then this chat is with Will Doak is for you. Sharni Honor & Sarah Bradford - summertown studio

Sharni Honor is a force to be reckoned with. She is the brains behind The Porch Sessions, Porchland and The Vibe Company and has recently teamed up with the formidable Sarah Bradford (Among The Wildflowers & Sunday Design Co.) to open summertown studio. Tessa caught up with the girls at their new studio in Somerton Park where they discussed how to turn ideas into reality, what makes a good working relationship and of course, what they love about this great state of ours.
