This week we wanted to spread awareness on the issue that Sikh farmers are currently facing. The Indian government has confiscated the farmland of more than 30,000 Sikh farmers in Uttar Pradesh. Sikh families have not been given any compensation and are now dealing with terrible living conditions and poverty. In the past 15 years, more than 250,000 farmers have committed suicide in India mainly due to financial pressures, according to the Indian National Crime Records Bureau statistics. Approximately one farmer commits suicide every 30 minutes.
