Rico Rossy

Rico Rossy spent three years with the Royals organization (1992-1994) including the 1992 and 1993 seasons in KC. Acquired from the Atlanta Braves for outfielder Bobby Moore (12/91), Rossy was primarily known for his glove and having a better bat than most utility infielders. Rico also spent time at the major league level with Atlanta (1991) and Seattle (1998). The Puerto Rico native and former Purdue Boilermaker recently joined Dave O to talk about how he got the nickname “Rico,” rooming with Randy Johnson in Alaska during college summer ball, going on the DL in KC with Chicken pox, the picturesque boutique hotel he now owns near Puerto Rico (https://villaboheme.com/) and lots more! Vinnie Pasquantino

Vinnie Pasquantino was selected by the Royals in the 11th round of the 2019 draft out of Old Dominion University, and continues to tear the cover off the ball at Burlington (Rookie Ball). A 6-4 left handed hitting first baseman, Pasquantino currently sports a slash line of .366/.592/.958 in one of the more impressive offensive seasons for a 21 year old in Appalachian League history. He recently joined Dave O to talk about being in the McDonald’s Drive-Thru when finding out the Royals had drafted him, the Dwayne Bowe Chiefs jersey he owned in high school, how his Dad is a National Champion in Putt Putt, a full scouting report of several Burlington Royals teammates and lots more! Sebastian Rivero

Sebastian Rivero is Baseball America’s selection as best defensive catcher in the Kansas City minor league system. Originally signed by the Royals in 2015 out of Venezuela, Rivero is just 20 years old and currently forms half of the best catching duo in the entire minor leagues at High A Wilmington (along with MJ Melendez). The Top 30 Royals prospect recently joined Dave O to talk about how the Royals discovered him in Venezuela, how he became fluent in English at the age of 20 (beyond impressive), earning the nick name “Sea Bass,” the great relationship he has with MJ Melendez and lots more! Holden Capps

Holden Capps is likely nearing a promotion, as the 6-2 lefty owns a microscopic 1.64 ERA with 45 K’s across 38.1 innings at High A Wilmington. Originally selected by Kansas City in the 8th round of the 2017 draft, Capps has spent the previous two years at Idaho Falls and Lexington, and heads into mid-July of 2019 with a combined 3.32 minor league ERA to go along with 159 K’s in 154.2 IP. The University of Central Oklahoma product and former Pioneer League All-Star recently joined Dave O to talk about the “velo flow” (his old hair style), the strength he drew from his Mom, learning to become a pitcher, how much like a family this Wilmington team is and lots more! Tyler Zuber

Tyler Zuber will inevitably get compared to Greg Holland (and Jeff Montgomery) as a 5-11 right handed closer who also pitched in college (Arkansas State). Originally a 6th round selection by the Royals in 2017, Zuber currently serves as the closer for the NW Arkansas Naturals and has combined 2019 marks (between NWA/Wilmington) that would make Monty quite proud (1.11 ERA in 32.1 IP with 40 K’s & 12/15 in save opportunities). Overall, Tyler has saved 36/41 games during his two plus years in the Kansas City organization. Zuber recently joined Dave O for a second time to talk about making the 2019 Carolina League All-Star team, what he’s working on the most, signing autographs and lots more! Josh Mitchell

Josh Mitchell was selected by the Royals in the 22nd round of the 2017 draft from the University of Pittsburgh, and is currently pitching out of the Wilmington Blue Rocks bullpen with a 2.61 ERA and 1.1 K/IP across 6 appearances. A 6-2 lefty, Mitchell overcame a gruesome knee injury at the end of the 2018 season and figures to be a quick mover. He recently joined Dave O to talk about pitching with a torn labrum for four years (without knowing it), why he used a wooden bat in high school, how his relationship with Grandpa and God saved his career (and life) and tons more!
