Interview with Mizuno Athlete Renee Metivier Baillie

Our podcast is sponsored by our fantastic footwear partners at Mizuno. We are so honored to be part of the Mizuno family and happy to be able to share that connection with you today as we talk with Renee Metivier Baillie, an elite Mizuno athlete. Renee was an All-American at the University of Colorado and, among her many accomplishments, was an NCAA Champion in the 3000 meters, twice runner-up in the NCAA Cross Country Championships, USATF 3000 meter indoor champ and in September of this year kicked in a 20K US Road Championship along with her most recent and amazing 8th place finish at the Chicago Marathon on October 7th with a time of 2:27:17, the top American and 5th fastest debut in US history. We'll talk about her marathon debut, her training--mentally and physically--tips on coming back from injury and explore the common ground between elite runner and everyday runner. We'll also learn more about that incredible tattoo and, if we're lucky, what her secret weapon in life is!

Winter Running - How to Stay Motivated & the Holiday Half

As we recover from Halloween and head into the rest of the holiday season, it starts to sink in that yes, the winter weather is upon us and, especially in Eugene, we're stuck with rain for the next 7 months. For us runners we have two choices....run or not run. If you're like me and not running is not an option, there's a myriad of things you do to keep yourself warm, semi-dry and motivated. We all know that one of the great ways to do that is sign yourself up for a race. And now, there's one timed just perfectly on December 22nd - the Eugene Holiday Half Marathon and Holiday Hustle 5 and 10K races. We'll chat today with Race Directory, Piper Ruiz, about the fun details of this winter race day and share some tips with you on how to get out the door on cold, dark mornings. Piper is a published author and owner of Pink Buffalo Publishing and Pink Buffalo Racing, and, of course, a runner herself.

In our final podcast of this series, we'll talk with both Carolyn Hennessey and her crew chief, Deb Landau, as they give us their versions of the Western States 100 Endurance Run race report that Carolyn has been training for. We've been following Carolyn on her journey to one of the most famouse 100 mile races and we're excited to hear the play-by-play. Did her fueling system stand the test, how did her heat training prepare her, how did she deal with rough patches and how did Deb and the crew help support her and keep her going? Running 100 miles is no easy task, but Carolyn trains while also working full time, creating another business and being step mom to three boys.
