Our friend and talented bay area editor Brian Zalewski sits down and talks with Alex and Steve on this week's Tuesday Coffee Klatch!!! Of course, we talk all about the professional world of editing and what Brian does. He gives some great advice...like...."don't suck!". Welcome back film fans!!! This week on the Tuesday Coffee Klatch we interviewed a good friend of ours Sean Paul Sullivan. He is a local Bay Area filmmaker. Sean came in to talk about his up and coming new short film "Women Like You. " Which is based around 65 Barracuda. Sean is raising money for crew, gear, food, and gas on Kickstarter. Kickstarter for those that don't know is a great fundrasing website. Oh yeah...it's true. We're a little bit behind here at the Tuesday Coffee Klatch with Alex and Steve. Case in point...we are releasing our review of The Muppets now! We apologize...but, check out our podcast! It has aged well...and, presents a great case for seeing The Muppets (which is still in theaters)...or, for putting it on your Netflix cue. Hello Everybody!!! This week the Tuesday Coffee Klatch with Alex and Steve sits down and and talks with Daniel Yoon! An award winning director, actor, and writer who is at work on his latest film "Low Budget Ethnic Movie" (working title). With most of his movie shot, he is now back in Toronto, Canada working on an edit. His first movie "Post Concussion" (1999) won several awards including a Taos Film Festival Land Grant Award. And, can now be seen through Netflix or from the Blue Water Films website. In this interview with Alex and Steve, Yoon talks about the trials and tribulations of editing a movie... especially one that you are acting in and directing...to the difference between shooting "Post Concussion" on film versus shooting "Low Budget Ethnic Movie" digitally...to how to deal with film festivals...to why he got into making films in the first place. Her documentary depicts a modern day underground railroad, following five North Korean refugee's who are in search of better lives and are willing to risk everything to find it. Both harrowing and courageous, Shin discusses the difficulties, dangers, and rewards of making such a film...from filming in China without the proper permits...avoiding the Chinese cctv...crossing the Laotian border without papers...and, even mundane tribulations such as finding funding through Kickstarter. Heather talks about her behind the scenes work as a Locations Assistant on movies such as Gerard Butler's "Of Mavericks and Men", Nicole Kidman and Clive Owen's "Hemingway and Gelhorn", and TV's "Parenthood". Here's Heather and Steve hanging out on the Alphabet Rockers set! An important aspect of making, locations is the art of finding interesting and script appropriate places to shoot a film.
