A firefighter knows that it only takes an ember to rekindle a raging forest fire. The embers of college athletics realignment are still lurking. There is every bit of a chance that the once out of control burn of just a few weeks ago may reignite. The latest news has the Big 12 stepping away from the Pac-12 with the configurations that were discussed. The SEC's commissioner made the comment at their conference football media event that there was no more change on the table. That leaves the Big Ten lurking in the shadows, Notre Dame sitting pretty and unlikely to make a quick decision and the ACC wrapped up in a nice little cocoon that may only provide a sense of security. What's next? Will the Big Ten swoop in and gather up the remaining (or a portion thereof) Pac-12 schools?
