It's our big 1300th episode and Jimmy and Producer Joe gather a panel of friends to discuss comics, TV, film, news and pop culture. Heidi MacDonald (EIC of THE BEAT) has been a good friend of them and the podcast for years now and always comes on to hang. 2 of her editors Avery Kaplan (PRISM COMICS) and Therese Lacson (NERDOPHILES) also join in on the rap session. Both have helped out with reviews and interviews over the last couple of years on CNI and are so appreciated! We had such a fun time talking away about the business of nerdy entertainment. Also, at the last minute, Jimmy decides to text his old pal Michael Emerson to see if he was free to jump on for a short time. And yes, he was free! Always fun catching up with Michael as we just had a laid back chat about what he's working on, LOST, Comic-Con and more. It was a surprise to the other panelists and it turns out they were big fans and were delighted to have the chance to chat. Thanks again to Michael and the panel for hanging w/ Jimmy and Producer Joe on this anniversary episode! Also, get a hold of us! Thanks for listening!

Jimmy was in Toronto over the weekend attending TCAF (Toronto Comic Arts Festival). In this episode, Jimmy talks with 3 creators whom have books out with SelfMadeHero. He chats with Catherine Castro about the book she wrote CALL ME NATHAN. Based on a true story, it follows a young girl realizing she is not the gender she was assigned at birth. Beautiful, powerful and positive. Chris W. Kim STRAYS talks about the new book he wrote & drew called STRAYS. It's about moving on, starting over, missing friends, and a sense of belonging. Truly identifiable and magnificent storytelling. Anne Mette Kaerulf Lorentzen wrote and drew her own story in WHEN I CAME OUT. Loosely based on her own life, it follows her marriage and children to coming out as gay in her 40's. Powerful and thought provoking.
