We’re in the midst of an unprecedented time in our economy with the corona virus and covid-19 putting us in lockdown and shutting the doors of countless businesses. We don’t know exactly where this thing is going but we thought it was a great chance to talk about getting scrappy when times are tough and how to survive this downturn. We’re two months into the new year and hopefully you’ve been able to stay with new year resolutions or business practices you put into place this year. But it’s easy to fall back into old habits if you don’t have good systems in place. John and I just recently got back from Workbench Con where we did a presentation on business systems and we want to share that with you if you weren’t able to make it. And today it’s going to be all about scheduling your time and managing your e-mail and documents. We’re stoked about today’s guest who honestly shared some of what I think is the most valuable content we’ve had to date. Tim Schmoyer is one of the premier YouTube experts, but the knowledge you’ll get in this episode goes way past YouTube. He talks about finding your perfect customer, weaving your brand story, and finding and filling the needs of your customers. You’re gonna love this one. Since 2011, Tim Schmoyer has been one of the leading YouTube strategists in the online video industry. His company, Video Creators, has been featured by FOX, Forbes, BBC even YouTube themselves as his team trains creators and brands to master YouTube and use it as a place to spread messages that change lives. Their clients have organically grown by over 14 billion views and 61 millions subscribers under their guidance. Today he lives in Cincinnati, Ohio, with his wife and seven children. Whew...2019 has been a whirlwind of awesome opportunities and new beginnings for John and I. The biggest of course was John getting married, but also this year my wife Susan came on full time with FTBT. John brought on his full time editor, Sam, and we’ve both take on loads of new work and opportunities that have had us travelling and getting involved in new business planning ideas. On top of that John is going through a full house remodel and looking at buying another property. Yeah, lots of stuff. So basically what I’m getting at here is we need a break. We’ve got 6 or 7 weeks left in the year and we need to finish strong. But don’t worry, we’ll be back in 2020. Things may look a little different then, but we’ll cross that bridge when we get there. Okay, it’s time. We’ve been teasing and talking about Tik Tok for a while now across a few different shows and after shows. Today we’re going to dive in and do a full episode on this up and coming social media platform. John and I are both on the platform and we’ll share a few things we’ve noticed and how we’re feeling about the platform right now. Today John is still out and I’m talking with one of my oldest friends in the online woodworking community. Andrew Bacon started Field Treasure Designs back in 2012 making rustic pallet clocks and hand stenciled signs. He grew his side hustle and tested and produced dozens of new products along the way. He’s sold products into all 50 states as well as overseas. Through several life changes and moves Andrew’s business changed with him until he finally decided to pivot to a new venture. He shares about that evolution today and gives some awesome tips and nuggets of wisdom for the aspiring side hustler. John just got married this week. So I (Brad) gave him a break to take care of all the fun last minute wedding planning. But I thought this would be a great chance to talk about an awesome opportunity I recently had. I spent a full day with Gary Vee and his team, okay he was really only in the room for about 75 minutes, but it was a really insightful session and I wanted to share some things I took away from it.
