My podcast is a labor of love created out of my passion for my guests, their work and a variety of shows and movies that have changed my life. My guest list is second to none. Episode 246."O Brother, Where Art Thou"Actor.Wayne Duvall.Born in Silver Springs Maryland, Cousin to Robert Duvall, Wayne Duvall has enjoyed a successful career. Somewhat of a late bloomer, Duvall got his first acting job in 1991 on an episode of the Andy Griffith legal drama "Matlock," in a small role as a desk clerk. Throughout the 1990s, Duvall kept busy with bit parts in several films and TV shows, including "Apollo 13," "ER," and "Chicago Hope." In 2000 he was cast in arguably his most prominent film role when he appeared as Homer Stokes, a blowhard gubernatorial candidate in "O Brother, Where Art Thou?," Joel and Ethan Coen's loose interpretation of Homer's "Odyssey." That same year he joined the cast of the lighthearted legal drama "The District" as Sgt. Phil Brander, a Washington, D.C., police officer, and appeared throughout the show's four-year run. After its cancellation in 2004, Duvall bounced around as a guest star on such shows as "CSI: NY" and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" before being cast in Paul Haggis's Iraq War film, "In the Valley of Elah," in 2007 as a police detective. Episode 245."The Walking Dead"Actor.Steve Coulter.Born in Canada, Steve grew up in South America and Cleveland Heights, Ohio. An actor and writer, his television appearances include recurring roles on House of Cards, Brockmire, The Purge, The Walking Dead and Kevin Costner's Yellowstone. He also appeared in two HBO films directed by Barry Levinson: Wizard of Lies with Robert DeNiro and Paterno with Al Pacino.Film appearances include The Hunger Games, The Conjuring 1 & 2, Birth of a Nation, Insidious 2 & 3, Damien Chazelle's First Man, The Front Runner, and Charlie Day's El Tonto. He was the head writer for both of Tyler Perry's television series, House of Payne and Meet the Browns, where he supervised over 100 episodes and won two consecutive NAACP IMAGE Awards for Best Comedy Series. Welcome to Monday Morning Critic Podcast!Episode 244.Author."Jojo Rabbit" (Caging Skies).Christine Leunens.Christine Leunens was born in Hartford, Connecticut to an Italian mother and a Belgian father. As a teenager she moved to Paris, where she had a close relationship with her grand-father, Guillaume Leunens, the Flemish painter and sculptor. She funded her study and early writing by modelling in Europe, becoming the face of Givenchy, Paco Rabanne, Nina Ricci, Pierre Balmain and Sonia Rykiel, acting in TV ads such as Mercedes Benz, Suzuki and House of Fraser. She went on to earn a Master of Liberal Arts in English and American Literature and Language from Harvard University in 2005, and a PhD at Victoria University of Wellington in 2012.Since its first publication in 2004, Caging Skies has become an international bestseller, translated into over twenty languages. In 2007 the French translation was nominated for the Prix Médicis Étranger and the Prix du Roman FNAC. Over time, Caging Skies was adapted to stage and film. The play adaptation, written by Desirée Gezentzvey and directed by Andrew Foster, had its world premiere at the Circa Theatre, Wellington in 2017. Taika Waititi’s film adaptation, Jojo Rabbit, won the People's Choice Award at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival, was nominated in 2020 for two Golden Globes, six Baftas, and six Oscars, including Best Picture. It won the WGA Award, the BAFTA Award as well as the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay. It also won the Humanitas Prize for writing intended to promote human dignity, meaning and freedom. Both the film and the book were nominated for the USC Scripter Award 2020 and won AFI Awards for their contribution to America's Cultural Legacy. Christine currently lives with her family in New Zealand. Episode 243."Loki"Composer: Natalie Holt.Fresh off her amazing score in Marvel's "Loki", Natalie Holt is a multi-award winning British composer who trained at the Royal Academy of Music in London and the National Film & Television School.Her numerous film and television credits include the Marvel television series Loki (starring Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson), the BBC’s Wallander (starring Kenneth Branagh), Knightfall (starring Mark Hamill), Paddington (starring Hugh Bonneville), Deadwater Fell (starring David Tennant) and the award-winning BBC drama Three Girls.She co-scored the WW1 film Journey’s End with Oscar winner Hildur Guðnadóttir (Joker), The Honourable Woman and Victoria with Martin Phipps (The Crown) and composed additional music for Hans Zimmer and Martin Phipps on the film Woman in Gold.An accomplished violinist and violist, she has performed at the Royal Albert Hall and the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games. Episode 238.Boston Celtics.Center: Greg Kite.Instagram: Monday Morning Critic Podcast.Facebook: Monday Morning Critic Podcast.Twitter: DarekThomasWebsite: www.mmcpodcast.comWhen Greg Kite was drafted by the Boston Celtics in the first round of the 1983 NBA Draft with the 21st pick, he knew he’d have a tough time seeing some significant playing time with future Hall of Famers Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish making up the Celts’ front court.The 6-foot-11 center out of Brigham Young University, played a limited role off the bench, averaging nearly eight minutes per game while enjoying four straight NBA Finals appearances, including a pair of titles, in his four full seasons with the team.Kite wound up enjoying a healthy 12-year NBA career and only had one tiny regret when his playing days were done.Kite went on to play for the Clippers, Hornets, Kings, Magic, Knicks and Pacers. Statistically, his best years came with Orlando, a place he still calls home, when he played all 82 games during the 1990-91 season, averaging 27.1 minutes per game. Kite averaged a career-best 7.2 rebounds per contest and 4.8 ppg. in the first of his four seasons with the Magic.Welcome Greg Kite!
