He seemed like the perfect man, at first. He wined and dined that special one who caught his eye, at the beginning. He would sweep them off their feet and marry them, quickly. He was after more than marriage, in fact, marriage was just a way to get what he was after. What he was after would cost more than one woman her life. After all, tragic accidents happen but when these tragic accidents happen with the same person at the center of incidents, you have to take a closer look. In the summer of 1985, the folks in the small town of Gillespie, Illinois were shaken to their core when 16-year-old Bridget Drobney was found brutally murdered.Three men were arrested and one, Robert Turner was sentenced to death. In January of 2003, Governor Ryan commuted all 167 of Illinois’ death row inmates to life sentences. One of those was obviously, Robert Turner. Years later, In March of 2011, Governor Pat Quinn would abolish the death penalty in the state of Illinois altogether. In June of 2022, Turner was able to get a clemency hearing with the help of the Illinois Prison Project. The Illinois Prison Project fights for people serving “unjust, unnecessary and excessive” sentences in Illinois. If you visit their website, it says in big letters they are fighting a “system that treats people as disposable.” And while there are certainly many innocent people serving sentences in Illinois that are serving especially excessive sentences, the Drobney family feels that Rober...
The Mafia, the Mob, the family. It has many names but there is only one thing this organization is concerned about: money. This long-standing group has members operating from the streets hustling all the way up to corrupt government officials. In the neighborhoods they run, they are feared by some and adored by others. This family follows a set of rules demanding loyalty to each other above all else, including, well, your own family. To break these laws not only goes against what they stand for but it very well may cost a life or two. Afterall, someone must pay.Join Jen and Cam on this episode of Our True Crime Podcast entitled ‘Mafia Murder Mystery: Johnny Boy D’Amato.’Our listener discretion is by the amazing Edward October @octoberpodVHSOur multi-talented editor does all our music too @wetalkofdreams Sources:https://www.cbsnews.com/news/mob-boss-hit-over-gay-encounters/https://nypost.com/2003/05/01/mobster-sleeps-with-the-swishes/https://www.fbi.gov/file-repository/mafia-famil...
On May 4, 2001, Bonny Lee Bakley was found fatally shot in a car on a dark North Hollywood street. The prime suspect was her husband, famed actor Robert Blake. But Bonny, a longtime con artist, had plenty of enemies. She left behind a trail of men she’d scammed, and she had a volatile relationship with Christian Brando, the troubled son of movie star Marlon Brando. Not since the O.J. Simpson case had the eyes of the nation been so fixated on a homicide. The search for Bonny’s killer took detectives on an eleven-month odyssey across the country and through Hollywood's underbelly of hustlers, drug addicts, and would-be hitmen. It would be the most expensive murder investigation in LAPD history to date. This is the story of Robert and Bonny’s toxic relationship, her shocking murder, and his chaotic trial. Did actor Robert Blake kill his wife? Or was the murder someone else's vendetta? From Wondery, and the team behind the hit series Hollywood & Crime (The Dating Game Killer, The Wond...

Today we are going nearby to St Charles Missouri where a local businessman was found shot to death inside his office on June 8, 2007, by a postwoman. It was about 12:30 in the afternoon when she called 9-1-1 and informed the operator that the man had been shot and, she thought he was dead. As she is on the phone with 911, a police officer drives by and she flags him down. The officer enters the business and finds the man. The officer clearly identifies a gunshot to the head. The man’s name was Robert Eidman and whoever killed him did it, wanted to make sure Bob would see exactly who wanted him dead.Join Jen and Cam on this episode of Our True Crime Podcast entitled ‘The Price of Doing Business: Bob Eidman.’That brand new listener discretion is by the smooth-voiced Edward October from OctoberpodVHS. On a flat and lonely stretch of highway in San Joaquin County, California, in February of 2012, onlookers were horrified as a backhoe violently tore into an abandoned well, nicknamed "Loren's Boneyard." The giant claws of the backhoe rose out of the ground holding a massive amount of dirt and the skeletal remains of the victims buried within—the victims presumably of Loren Herzog and Wesley Shermantine, AKA The Speed Freak Killers. While only convicted of murdering four people, they are suspected of murdering upward of 72 people.Join Cam & Jen as we discuss 'Made The Devil Do It: The Speed Freak Killers'.Listener Discretion by Edward October of OctoberpodVHShttps://www.youtube.com/c/octoberpodhomevideoProducer and Music by Nico Vettese wetalkofdreams.comWritten & Researched by Rett MacPhersonhttps://www.amazon.com/Rett-MacPherson/e/B000APPJ6A?ref=sr_ntt_srch_lnk_1&qid=1654048621&sr=8-1SOURCES:https://charleyproject.org/case/chevelle-yvonne-wheelerhttps://charleyproject.org/case/cyn...
We are headed to Cape Cod where the Montgomery County police just received a phone about a female body on the beach. When they arrive, they found a young woman on her stomach, both her arms reaching into the sand. She was topless and her back was severely sunburned. As they get a closer look, they realize both of her hands have been cut off and part of her face is missing. Police discover she has been out here for several days, with beach-goers simply thought she was sunbathing. The woman had no identification and the media dubbed her the ‘lady in the dunes’. Police try to chase leads but they are coming up empty-handed and the case goes cold. There would be more and the person responsible was someone that no one would recognize…not yet anyway.Join Jen and Cam on this episode of ‘Our True Crime Podcast’ entitled Dressed to Kill: Hadden Clark. On a beautiful Midwestern June evening in 2017, nineteen-year-old Tanner Scott Ward told his mom, Lisa, he was headed out to see his friend, Jeremiah, and to fix him a plate for dinner because he’d only be gone about thirty minutes. He kissed his baby girl, Sophia, and left on foot with only the clothes on his back. It was the last time his family would see him alive.Six months later Tanner's body would be found hanging from a tree not far from his home. Tanner's death is ruled a suicide but the Ward family vehemently rejects the ruling. Considering some of the conflicting reports, it’s easy to understand their frustration.
