On this final day of June, we’re celebrating this final day of Pride Month with a look back at three of our favorite conversations from trailblazing voices in the LGBTQ community. Amit Paley, the executive director and CEO of The Trevor Project is doing life-saving work leading the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ young people. Rosemary Ketchum made history when she became the first transgender person elected to a public office in West Virginia. Jeffrey Marsh is a non-binary rights activist, speaker, and author who is best known for making inspirational videos that have been seen more than a billion times, teaching self-love and acceptance. Each of these conversations invites listeners to learn and understand the LGBTQ community, to celebrate the progress in this space, and the opportunity for continued support ahead. -------- Imma keep some healthy space from social for a bit and am bringing it on email. This week Dave has a conversation with the hosts of HER BEST DAD EVER, Markay Fairley and Hector Gabriel. They’re two girl dads who know we can’t do this fatherhood thing on our own and want to champion, encourage, and celebrate fellow girl dads to be her best dad ever. They’re building a global community where girl dads can feel seen and supported on their fatherhood journey by having honest conversations, listening with open hearts, and sharing what we’re learning with other girl dads. A native of Hungary, Dr. Edith Eger was a teenager in 1944 when she and her family were sent to Auschwitz during WWII. Despite overwhelming odds, Edith survived the Holocaust and ultimately came to the US with her husband where she went on to graduate with a Ph.D. from the University of Texas and became an eminent psychologist. Today, she maintains a busy clinical practice and lectures around the world — including amazing interviews with Oprah, Brene Brown, and more. Today, we’re fortunate to have her joined by her extraordinary daughter, child psychologist Dr. Marianne Engle, who co-authored just released a new edition of her beloved book The Gift — a follow up of her NY Times Bestseller The Choice. The original edition launched in Sept 2020 to rave reviews for its warm and insightful approach to dealing with life's most complex challenges — and provides a hands-on guide that gently encourages readers to change the thoughts and behaviors that may be keeping them imprisoned in the past. This new edition brings her fresh perspective and nuanced understanding of processing deep issues with children. If you’ve had a hard time moving forward from a challenging past or have in any way felt stuck in a victim mentality, this episode is for you. -------- Imma keep some healthy space from social for a bit and am bringing it on email. This week’s solo episode finds Dave diving into a conversation about the blessings of not knowing how things are going to turn out. For so many of us, our dreams, relationships or identities take turns we could have never expected, especially when we make big leaps into new spaces. But, in so many cases, it was not knowing how things were going to go that gave us permission to start the journey in the first place. Had insight into how some of our dreams were ultimately destined to die, we would have kept ourselves from fully living to avoid the pain in the journey. Dave shares how not knowing how his adoption journey, departure from Disney, or the end of his marriage was a big blessing in taking steps forward that have been instrumental to his growth. -------- Imma keep some healthy space from social for a bit and am bringing it on email.
