This week's Summit Session is a 2-part episode because we had to hear the story in its entirety and thats how the cookie crumbled. In summer 2021 Matt Mochella set a brand new Unsupported FKT (Fastest Known Time) of the 46 High Peaks in just under five days, breaking the previous record by more than 24-hours! An amazing story of determination and grit. In part 1 Matt breaks down his planning, gear, food, and takes us through the first couple days, day by day, peak by peak. In this episode of The 46 of 46 Podcast I'll tell the story about the notorious plane crash of 1969 in Cold Brook Pass, nestled in the MacIntyre Range between Mt Marshall and Iroquois. Like many Adirondack plane crash sites this plane is still there and is often visited by high peaks hikers. Hear the entire story today from the crash, to the pilot, to the heroic search and rescue efforts of the Adirondack Forest Rangers and the entire search and rescue team. This is an episode you will not want to miss! I dare say this real true story is probably more interesting than the last Hollywood film you watched.
