Welcome back to the Dental Slang Podcast! We’ve got a wonderful guest today. Dr. Parag Kachalia is talking with us from California, from the heart of Silicon Valley, and he’s sharing some serious knowledge bombs when it comes to the future of dental technology. Dr. Parag is one of the Seattle Study Club’s Top 10 Young Educators, so you’re guaranteed to learn a little something on today’s episode. First and foremost you will learn what Dr. Parag is a traveling man. He and his family take a trip abroad every year, but he’s also traveling a lot for work. He hops on a plane every Thursday, he says, whether it’s for lectures on digital technology or guest speeches on restorative dentistry for fellow dentists. He’s managed to find that balance between traveling for work and for pleasure and he’s sharing that secret with us today. Other secrets will be revealed in today’s episode, including where and how you can find a different kind of dental mentor. We’ve talking about mentors before on our podcast, after all - mentors are the secret ingredient to your success. But sometimes mentors can be more than just individuals and mastermind groups. Sometimes it’s the place where you live that inspires you, kind of like how Silicon Valley inspired Dr. Parag. Dr. Parag shares his view of where the next stage of dental technology is taking us. So far he sees all of these new tools and this new tech gathering all of this data, but what are we doing with it? The future of dental technology lies in how we apply all of this new data to our dental practices. Developing AI to help us understand the data is one of many views of the future Dr. Parag shares with us today, and we discuss all the ways dentists can work together to bridge our research, our data, and our experiences to improve this profession for everyone. Today, the three of us create a whole new type of dentistry. You can call it daydreaming, but we think it’s more like brainstorming. Thinking about where the future of dental technology can take us is very inspiring, and even Dr. Parag sees these changes influencing the way dental students are learning and the way modern dentists are practicing. He breaks down these different generations and how we can not only teach them but how we can market to them as well. If you’re looking for new ways to reach your dental patients (or even your dental students), then hit play right now. The nuggets of knowledge Dr. Parag shares today cannot be missed. Because he’s doing so much more than just solving our most common dental problems. He’s aiming to create brand new ways that make our practice easier and more comfortable for our patients, our staff, and everyone working to build their own dental practices.
