The United States House of Representatives Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) was established in 1976 to investigate the assassinations of John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1963 and 1968, respectively Capt. James J. Humes, the lead prosector at the autopsy of President Kennedy. Humes publicly retracted the autopsy report's placement of the fatal entry wound, which the Medical Panel determined was 4 inches away from the originally-noted spot.
