I am delighted to talk with Anna Saw on her paper published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine this week, entitled "Monitoring the athlete training response: subjective self-reported measures trump commonly used objective measures: a systematic review" which features in my Research Review 112. We talk about the both subjective and objective training load markers, unexplained underperformance syndrome and the validity and heterogeneity of the studies included. We discuss the associations between subjective and haematological, immunological and performance markers and then talk of the future work in the area. Anna has currently submitted her thesis at Deakin University in Melbourne and with a great start of 3 academic papers links here http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?term=Anna+E+Saw You can follow Anna on twitter @annaesaw I write a weekly 4 paper research review summary in sports medicine, science, and performance and you can subscribe at www.drandyfranklynmiller.com/review
