In Christianity, heaven is a place where a believer is said to ascend after casting aside his physical body on death. The stay of a soul of a believer in heaven and also of a non-believer in hell is eternal as Christians do not believe in the doctrine of reincarnation. The Hindu idea of svarga is very different as it is a subtle realm beyond the perceptible physical world where a jivatma temporarily resides to enjoy the fruits of its good deeds. Similarly, naraka is a place where one suffers temporarily because of his bad deeds.
