Are you living the life you actually want for yourself? Are you living the life of YOUR conscious choosing, or are you following the path you were told to walk down? In this episode, I interview Katerina Levanttar, a woman who shed the expectations of society and awakened to her soul, embarking on the most exciting journey into the unknown. She spent over a decade working in the financial industry in NYC, following the path of the “American Dream”. She fell into the same belief, like many of us do, that following a traditional career path which guarantees a high salary, big bonuses, and financial security will bring satisfaction and a joyous life. But 10-12 hour workdays, sitting at a desk, staring at a computer screen all day long, was far from joyous. Instead, it drained not only her energy, but her creativity and inspiration. Working such long hours never really gave her any time to THINK or IMAGINE what she actually wanted her life to be. Finally, Katerina reached a point where she “woke up from the sleepwalking”. After questioning everything in her life – how she was spending her time, what thoughts were swirling in her mind, what beliefs she held, what she was eating, why she was working her job – she decided to take a bold leap into the unknown. She released all of those false expectations and promises society gives us for living a “good life” and instead, she set out to create the life of her dreams. Today, Katerina’s life looks completely different from the life she was once living in NYC. She now lives in Oaxaca City in Mexico, and is a sound healer, meditation teacher, and a guide for other people’s spiritual awakenings. She is also the founder and creator of The Butterfly House – a healing home for people to take a break from the outer world, and just turn inward, reconnect with themselves, and just be. In this episode, we chat about… - Shifting from doing to BEING - Shedding society’s expectations and reprogramming your mind - Creating your reality - Quieting the mind and listening to the heart - Getting in touch with your intuition - Practicing self-inquiry, mindfulness, and gratitude
Everything is made up of energy, including you and me. The more tuned in you are with energy, the more you will be able to pick up on other people’s energy and how it affects your energy. If we hold onto someone else’s energy, we may start to experience their emotions ourselves. We can pick up on another’s energy because we are all connected, by what are called “energy cords”. Energy cords are emotional strands of energy that form regardless of time or space. They form with every person you connect with, and still exist even when you are separated. These cords can potentially become toxic depending on the relationship or the attachment. (This is why it can be SO hard to get over an ex-boyfriend/girlfriend.) In the latest episode of the Body of Soul podcast, I interview Emily Jean, a Law of Attraction and Spiritual Coach. We chat about… - What “energy cords” are - How energy cords form, between people, places, things - Signs that we need to cut off energy cords - The benefits of regularly cleansing your energy - Simple energy clearing practices to cut energy cords
Stop dieting – eat to bring balance to your mind and body. So many of us are searching for the next diet to try, or eliminating certain foods because the media or an influencer on Instagram told us to. We are looking OUTSIDE of ourselves for direction on how to feed and nourish our body, when we should be turning inward – our body holds all of the wisdom and guidance we need. Ayurveda focuses on eating foods that bring balance to your unique mind body type. The body gives us cues for which foods it needs more of and which foods to avoid, through our digestion, elimination, tongue coating, energy levels, and cravings. These signs help us understand if we are in a balanced state, or an imbalanced state. In this episode, I share the Ayurvedic approach to nutrition, focusing on bringing balance to each of the mind-body types (“doshas”). This approach helped me quit dieting all together, and alleviated so much of my eating disorder tendencies. I chat about... - The 3 "mind-body types" in Ayurveda – Vata, Pitta, Kapha - How to listen to your body’s wisdom for signs of imbalances - Recommended foods for each of the mind-body types (and which foods to avoid)
The Ayurvedic diet isn’t just another short lived, fad diet. It’s quite the opposite, as this approach to nutrition has been around for more than 5,000 years, rooting in Ancient India. Different from many diets out there, NO food is “off limits” in Ayurveda. Instead, the focus is on bringing balance and harmony to the mind and body, and selecting foods that are right for YOU. The Ayurvedic approach to nutrition is based upon eating foods related to the dosha (energy) that is causing an imbalance in your mind and body. We can notice if we have an imbalance in our body through different physical sensations related to our digestion, energy levels, and more. By tuning into our body’s wisdom, we can understand which foods are best to consume for optimal health, and which foods to avoid until we are balanced again. In this episode, I chat about the fundamentals of Ayurvedic nutrition, including… - What is Ayurveda? - What matters most in the Ayurvedic diet - The 5 elements - The 3 d...
