Do you understand the connection between exercise and your hormonal health? I am constantly getting questions about this topic. People wonder how much they should exercise, how much is too much, if they overdoing it, if they are not exercising enough, etc. There’s a lot of information out there, so it can be hard to determine what really is best. In this episode of The Dr. Kinney Show, I am diving into the topic of exercise, the specific types of exercise, and how they can affect your hormones—as it relates to women. Exercise is generally an amazing thing for supporting a healthy lifestyle. However, there are times when different types of exercise may be more beneficial to your health than others. Sometimes, it’s great for you to dial it up a notch, and other times, it’s great to dial it back. It comes down to when you are putting your body into fight or flight mode with exercise and what your body and hormones actually need. Tune in to learn more about your hormones, how they work in your body, how exercise impacts them, and how to adjust your exercise routines based on what your hormones need. Many women face a lot of lingering issues after having a baby. They face back pain, diastasis recti, pelvic floor issues, and so much more. Unfortunately, most don’t get the treatment they need because the medical focus usually shifts to the baby after birth. In today’s episode of The Dr. Kinney Show, I sat down with Kelsey Vagnoni to talk about how physical therapy can make a huge difference for postpartum moms. Kelsey Vagnoni earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Delaware in 2007. Since that time, she has taken over 400 hours of additional hands-on training to improve her manual therapy skills. She spent 9 years in outpatient orthopedics as a spine and pelvic specialist before starting her own business. She became a mother in 2015. While she was recovering from a very traumatic birth, she realized physical therapy had a much-needed place in postpartum recovery. Why is physical therapy routine for a sprained ankle but not after childbirth? She started Personalized Physical Therapy in 2016 with a goal to provide high-quality, accessible care to mothers and change the way we think about physical therapy. The truth is, postpartum women don’t get the care they need to truly heal their bodies after all they go through. Tune in to learn more about how physical therapy can help you heal your body and improve your strength postpartum. Everyone knows that they need to drink water, but do you actually understand the importance of hydration? When speaking of chronic disease, many doctors will emphasize the importance of nutrition. Nutrition is definitely a huge piece of the healing puzzle, but another, more overlooked piece is hydration. Hydration really needs to be your starting point before you go on any nutritional plan. The best part? It only takes one day to start seeing results. Whereas with nutrition, it takes weeks to start seeing the effects of your diet changes, you’ll know immediately what it’s like to feel better because you are hydrated. In today’s episode of The Dr. Kinney Show, I sat down with Dr. Dana Cohen to talk about optimal hydration and why it should be the first treatment plan for any disease or illness. Dr. Cohen has worked side by side with the late Dr. Robert Atkins, a true pioneer in the field of integrative medicine. Well respected by her peers and beloved by her patients, Dr. Cohen, most importantly, is a clinician. She is an internal medicine doctor who has spent her career focusing on integrative medicine. She has helped thousands of patients find relief from a variety of health problems utilizing the principles of integrative and functional medicine. She practices with an emphasis on the individual, understanding that no two patients are alike. She focuses on nutrition and limits her patients’ reliance on prescription medications by using diet, lifestyle changes, and nutritional supplementation. To heal chronic issues, you have to get back to the basics. Tune in to learn more about optimal hydration and how you can properly hydrate and start seeing immediate results. We get so caught up in our careers and family that we forget to take care of ourselves and end up with nothing left to give. In this episode of The Dr. Kinney Show, I sat down with Jo Dodd to talk about depression among women and how to focus on your own needs and health to finally start to feel better. As women, we are constantly taking care of other people's needs, but it is so important for you to take care of your own needs first. Are you familiar with the mind-body connection? When your body is facing a lot of stressors, it can be easy to feel stuck. This is because your brain is trying to protect you so much that you can’t get out of a fight or flight response in order to heal, so sometimes it all comes down to getting your brain on board. In this episode of The Dr. Kinney Show, I sat down with Ashleigh Di Lello, who has a remarkable story. She lived on the verge of death for 4 years and battled chronic pain before overcoming what everyone thought she couldn’t. She did this by using the power of the mind-body connection. Ashleigh Di Lello is the founder & creator of Bio Emotional Healing, a revolutionary method based in neuroscience that helps her clients around the world finally break free from chronic pain, limiting beliefs, behaviors, and emotions to thrive in their lives! Despite being told by doctors she wouldn't live past her teenage years, she refused to give up and discovered the secret to rewiring the mind-body connection. She became an elite athlete, TV & Broadway star, entrepreneur, and motivational speaker. In order to calm down and heal, your brain has to feel safe. It is biologically hardwired to resist change, so doing too much at once can easily overwhelm it. Taking small steps is key to rewiring your nervous system and subconscious mind. Tune in to hear more about the process of rewiring your brain so that you can finally break out of that fight or flight response, calm your brain, and start your healing journey. So many people get fixated on all of the negative aspects of going through this phase of life that they forget to celebrate all of the things that are great about it. In this episode of The Dr. Kinney Show, I am sitting down with Linda Stephens to talk about all things menopause. Linda’s primary focus is working with midlife women (over 40/50 and beyond) to help them achieve confidence, exude sexiness, and feel comfortable in their own skin again. Her motto is, “midlife should be the bridge to your new life”. Linda has developed a comprehensive 12-week program that she teaches virtually to women around the globe called “Midlife Mastery”. Linda guides women by enlightening them on how their bodies change post 35 years old.
