The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Dr. Robert M. Silverman. With a focus on community development, affordable housing, and education policy, Dr. Silverman is an associate professor in the Department of Sociology in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Buffalo. In the weeks since the May 2022 White Terrorist attack on Buffalo, NY's east side, The C.O.W.S. has spoken with many scholars and Buffalo natives to better understand what happened. Hopefully, Dr. Silverman will aid our learning. We'll discuss his 2014 report: William Worthy’s Concept of ‘‘Institutional Rape’’ Revisited: Anchor Institutions and Residential Displacement in Buffalo, NY. It seems that for decades, black residents of Buffalo have received few benefits from investment and revitalization projects around the city.
